Every tarp in this collection is built on PVC-coated polyester, where the coating is an impermeable barrier rather than a finish that wears off, and every seam is heat-welded rather than stitched so there are no needle holes to leak through. What "100% Waterproof" Actually Has to Mean

Most fabric sold as waterproof is water-resistant with a good marketing team. The distinction is construction:

• Water-resistant — a treatment applied to a woven fabric. It beads light rain, then wets through under sustained rain or standing water — and UV degrades the treatment further every season.

• Waterproof — the barrier is the material. PVC is sealed onto both faces of the scrim, so there is no path through at any pressure and nothing to wear off.

That difference only holds if the rest of the tarp is built to match. A waterproof panel with a stitched seam is not a waterproof tarp.

The Three Places a Tarp Lets Water In

Knowing where tarps actually fail is the basis for how these are built.

• Through the fabric — solved by the coating itself. An impermeable PVC layer has no pores to wet through, which is why it outperforms any treated weave over a full season.

• Through the seams — the most common failure, and the one nobody inspects. Stitching drives a row of holes through the barrier and relies on thread that UV eats. Our seams are heat-welded — the coated faces fuse into one continuous piece with no perforations.

• Through the hardware — every grommet is, by definition, a hole in a waterproof sheet. Ours sit in a folded, reinforced hem rather than punched through open panel, so the penetration lands in the thickest part of the tarp, clear of where water collects.

Fabrics in This Collection

• Tarp Armor — 18 oz (610 gsm) PVC-coated fabric, 22 mil thick. The heavier barrier, for permanent exposure, standing water, and hard winters. 7-year warranty.

• Tarp Shield — 12 oz (410 gsm) PVC-coated fabric, 15 mil thick. Equally impermeable, in a fabric one person can handle alone. 5-year warranty.

Both are fully waterproof — the choice is working life and handling, not how much water is kept out. Our open-weave mesh is deliberately not waterproof and sits in Custom Mesh Tarps instead, for jobs needing airflow and shade rather than a seal.

Anchoring Without Compromising the Barrier

Rustproof brass grommets set in a reinforced hem — four corners, or spaced at approximately 24, 18, or 12 inches. Welded D-rings where straps get ratcheted down hard. Optional 1.5" reinforced perimeter webbing moves tension off the coated fabric so grommets don't pull through. On weighted covers, a galvanized chain sewn into the hem holds the tarp down with no stakes or sandbags.
