Description

A pergola is supposed to be the good part of the backyard. Then the first real rain hits, water drips straight through the slats, and the space under it is useless for two days. A flat-top waterproof pergola cover fixes that. It turns the open lattice into a sealed roof, so the table, the seating, and everyone under it stays dry.

Style 1 is the flat version — a single tensioned panel that stretches across the top of your frame. No drop, no overhang, just a tight waterproof top that reads clean against a modern pergola. Because it's made to your exact Width and Depth, it pulls flat and stays flat. That tension is what keeps water moving toward the edges instead of settling into a puddle overhead.

This is one of our outdoor pergola covers built to order, so "any shape, any size" isn't a slogan here — if your pergola is oversized, undersized, or a little out of square, we cut for it.

How to Measure Your Pergola Cover

You only need two numbers, both taken across the top of the frame:

Step 1 - Width

Measure the full width of the pergola's top frame, edge to edge, in feet and inches.

Step 2 - Depth

Measure the depth (front to back) across the top, edge to edge.

Step 3 - Add leeway

Add the optional 1–2" leeway if you want the cover to drape slightly past the frame edge for cleaner runoff. Send the two measurements and we build to them — no rounding, no standard sizes forced onto your frame.

Why Choose Our Waterproof Pergola Covers?

A real waterproof top, not a water-resistant one

The PVC coating doesn't let rain wick through the way an acrylic weave does. What lands on top runs off the top. That's the whole job.

Fit that stays taut

Made-to-measure sizing plus perimeter grommets means the panel stays drum-tight, so you're not fighting sag or a belly full of rainwater after every heavy rain.

Fabric matched to your weather

ZIP Armor for the pergola that never comes down, ZIP Shield for the one that only works overtime a few months a year. You're not overpaying for warranty you won't use — or under-building for weather you will get.

Backed by ZIPCushions

ZIPCovers is the outdoor-protection sister brand to ZIPCushions — the same team that's dressed 75,000+ homes and holds a 4.9-star Google rating. That track record stands behind every cover we cut.

Not sure which grade your pergola needs? Tell us your climate and we'll point you the right way — call +1 720-882-0756 or email sales@zipcovers.com. Then compare it against the extended, water-shedding drop design in Style 2.

Fabric Information

Style 1 is the clean, flat-top waterproof pergola cover. You pick the fabric grade that fits how hard your weather actually hits.

ZIP Armor — heavy-duty, year-round

ZIP Armor is our toughest build: 18 oz, 1000-denier PVC-coated polyester that shrugs off rain, snow, heat, and UV without going brittle. It carries our longest warranty — up to 10 years — and it's the right call for a pergola that stays exposed through every season.

ZIP Shield — high-grade, seasonal

ZIP Shield is a lighter high-grade PVC-coated polyester. Still fully waterproof, still UV-stable, just easier to handle and priced for milder climates or covered, seasonal setups. It carries a shorter warranty than ZIP Armor.

Both grades share the same construction: double-stitched seams, weather-resistant thread, and rustproof grommets set into reinforced corners so nothing tears out under tension. The top is cut to sit taut across your frame and tie down at the edges, so rain sheets off instead of collecting in the middle.

Feature Highlights

• 100% waterproof flat-top canopy that seals the whole top of your pergola against rain, not just the slats

• Built to your exact Width and Depth, so there's no sag, no guesswork, and no billowing edges

• Two fabric grades to match your climate: ZIP Armor for full year-round exposure, ZIP Shield for milder, seasonal use

• Rustproof grommets and tie-downs around the perimeter keep the cover pulled taut so water runs off instead of pooling

• UV-stable coating fights fading and surface cracking through long stretches of direct sun

• Double-stitched, reinforced seams sealed against leaks at every panel joint

• Canopy only — your existing pergola frame is not included

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — as long as the fabric is a coated one, which ours is. Both ZIP Armor and ZIP Shield are PVC-coated polyester, so rain runs off the surface instead of wicking through the weave. A woven acrylic shade fabric only repels water; a PVC-coated top like this one actually blocks it. The one thing to watch is pooling, which is a tension issue, not a fabric issue — see the next question.
Not if it's tensioned properly, which is exactly why we build it to your exact size and ring the perimeter with grommets. Pulled taut and tied down, the flat top sheds toward the edges. If your area sees heavy, sustained rain and you want water actively channeled off the sides, the Style 2 drop design is built for that.
No. This is the canopy only — the waterproof top that fits over the pergola frame you already own. We make the cover to match your structure's measurements; you keep your existing posts and beams.
Through the rustproof grommets set around the edge. You run tie-downs or bungees from each grommet to your pergola's rafters or beams and cinch until the top is taut. That tension is what keeps it flat, quiet in wind, and shedding water instead of collecting it.
Yes. Every cover is cut to order, so an oversized, undersized, or slightly out-of-square frame is no problem. If your pergola has an unusual footprint, send your measurements and a quick reference photo and we'll build the top to match it.
ZIP Armor is the heavier 18 oz, 1000-denier build with our longest warranty — up to 10 years — made for full, year-round exposure. ZIP Shield is a lighter high-grade PVC-coated polyester with a shorter warranty, made for milder climates or seasonal, covered use. Both are fully waterproof; they differ in toughness and how long they're built to last outdoors.
