Description

Dark panels do a specific job on a structure. Drawn across a pergola bay, a custom Sunbrella Spectrum Carbon outdoor curtain reads as a wall — real privacy for a hot tub corner, a poolside cabana, or a street-facing porch. Tied back, it frames the opening like trim.

Carbon is also the forgiving choice for hardworking spaces. Outdoor kitchens throw smoke and spatter; patios collect pollen. A near-black, stain-resistant weave shrugs off what a pale panel would show by Friday.

Pair Carbon Sunbrella drapes the way you'd pair charcoal anywhere outdoors: sand and stone cushions, taupe or gray equipment covers, white posts, warm wood decking. One dark custom carbon curtain against light hardscape does more than four timid ones.

Why Choose This Curtain?

Measured for Your Structure

You send the post-to-post width and beam-to-hem drop; we sew to those numbers. No pooling fabric, no gap above the rail. Panels arrive matched to the bays of your pergola, gazebo, or porch.

A Black That Stays Black

Surface-dyed panels turn gray and lifeless in a season or two — the coating wears off. Solution-dyed Spectrum Carbon carries pigment through every fiber, backed by the 5-year colorfast warranty. The drama you hang in June is the drama you still have in three Junes.

Built for Smoke, Pollen, and Splash

Highly water-repellent against sprinkler drift and pool splash. Stain-resistant and dark enough to hide what lands between cleanings. When the grime finally earns it, machine wash cold on gentle — done.

Fabric Information

Spectrum Carbon is the darkest fabric in our Sunbrella outdoor curtain lineup — a near-black charcoal with two tones running through the weave, so the panel has depth instead of the flat look of dyed polyester. The color is solution-dyed: pigment enters the liquid acrylic before the fiber is spun, which is why this black doesn't chalk to gray after a summer of sun. Sunbrella warrants it colorfast for 5 years.

Each Sunbrella Spectrum Carbon outdoor curtain is cut to your measured width and drop, then finished with double-stitched seams and UV-resistant outdoor thread. The fluorocarbon finish makes water bead up and roll off; the breathable weave lets humidity escape instead of rotting the fabric from inside.

Frequently Asked Questions

A deep, near-black charcoal with a subtle two-tone weave. In shade it reads as black; in direct sun the texture softens it just enough to look like fabric rather than a tarp. Want a flat, uniform black instead? That's Sunbrella Canvas Black, a different curtain in this collection.
Not the way you'd expect. A dark panel absorbs more heat at its own surface, but on an open structure that warmth disperses into moving air — while the shade the panel casts is what your seating actually feels. The breathable weave helps too. Tie the panels back when you want full airflow.
Treat Carbon as the anchor and keep the rest light: sand, stone, or oatmeal cushions, taupe or gray covers on nearby equipment, white or wood structure posts. Against pale hardscape, one Carbon-framed bay becomes the focal point of the yard.
Texture. Canvas Black is a flat, uniform solid; Spectrum Carbon weaves two tones together, so the surface has visible depth and hides dust better between rinses. Same solution-dyed acrylic, same 5-year colorfast warranty, same made-to-measure process — pick by the look you want up close.
Less than almost anything else we sew. The dark tone and tonal weave disguise the film that settles on outdoor fabric, and whatever does show rinses off with a garden hose. For pollen-heavy springs, that's a real argument for going dark.
Yes — arguably the best one. Cooking areas generate smoke residue and spatter that pale fabric advertises. Spectrum Carbon's stain-resistant weave conceals it between cleanings, the water-repellent finish handles sink splash, and a machine wash resets the panel at season's end.
