Description

Sandbags and stakes are slow to place and slow to clear, and they leave trip hazards on an active mound. This rectangle or square mound tarp has a galvanized chain sewn directly into the perimeter hem instead. The tarp's own weight holds it down in wind up to 50 mph, and one person can deploy or clear it in the time it takes to walk to the mound. It's built to the same standard whether you call it a weighted pitching mound tarp or a chain weighted mound cover square.

Grommets aren't included on this product by default — the chain hem is the anchoring system, not a supplement to it. Stakes have to be driven and pulled every use, sandbags have to be hauled and repositioned, and both leave something for a pitcher or fielder to trip over. A sewn-in chain does the same job automatically, every time, with nothing to place or remove separately.

Why Choose Our Chain-Weighted Mound Tarps?

No sandbags, no stakes, no trip hazards
The chain holds itself down using the tarp's own weight.

Fast, one-person deployment
Down or cleared in seconds, not minutes.

Rated for wind up to 50 mph
No stakes or sandbags needed as backup.

Backed by ZIPCushions
The same made-to-measure standard behind 75,000+ homes and a 4.9-star Google rating.
This is our baseball weighted mound tarps rectangle build, and it's built the same way regardless of the fabric weight chosen.

Measure the length and width of the area you want covered — a standard mound, an extended mound-and-plate footprint, or a custom bullpen shape.

Step 2 - Choose your fabric
18 oz for daily deployment, 12 oz for less frequent use or lighter handling.

Step 3 - Order
Select your dimensions in the customizer for an instant price.

Fabric Information

This mound tarp is built in your choice of fabric weight, with a galvanized chain replacing grommets as the anchoring system.

Tarp Armor — 18 oz, daily use

610 gsm, 22 mil PVC-coated fabric. Choose it for mounds deployed and cleared every game day.

Tarp Shield — 12 oz, lighter handling

410 gsm, 15 mil PVC-coated fabric. Choose it for less frequent use or where a lighter tarp suits the crew.

The weighted galvanized chain is sewn into the perimeter hem as standard, which is what lets the tarp hold down without stakes or sandbags. Grommets aren't included by default. If you want tie-down points for storage or transport in addition to the chain, welded D-rings at 24 or 12 inches and standard grommets can both be added on request.

As a weighted baseball mound cover, the chain hem is what does the anchoring — not the fabric choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Because stakes and sandbags are slow to place and clear, and both leave something on an active mound for a pitcher or fielder to trip over. A galvanized chain sewn into the hem holds the tarp down using its own weight, in wind up to 50 mph, so one person can deploy or clear it in seconds with nothing separate to carry, place, or forget.
Not for anchoring — the chain is the anchoring system and grommets aren't included by default. Add them only if you want additional tie-down points for storage or transport; the chain alone holds the tarp on the mound. Every weighted baseball mound cover we build follows that same rule.
It's rated to stay down in wind up to 50 mph using the tarp's own weight and the sewn-in chain, without needing stakes or sandbags as backup.
18 oz Tarp Armor if the mound tarp is deployed and cleared daily and needs to hold up to that frequency long-term. 12 oz Tarp Shield if it's used less often or if a lighter tarp is easier for your crew to handle — both carry the same chain-hem construction.
Custom rectangular sizing can be ordered to cover an extended footprint — send your dimensions for the combined area and we'll confirm feasibility before production. Many programs instead order separate mound and home plate tarps for faster individual deployment.
The fabric is the same 18 oz or 12 oz PVC-coated fabric used across our heavy duty range. What's different is the edge: this product has a sewn-in weighted chain instead of grommets by default, built specifically for fast, unassisted anchoring on an active mound rather than tie-down to stakes or straps.
